Parent-Child Program Facilitator

Agency Description: The mission of Neighbors Link is to strengthen the whole community by actively enhancing the healthy integration of immigrants. Neighbors Link provides innovative and impact driven programming to immigrant families and works to empower clients to successfully navigate community resources and to foster client leadership.

Job Summary: The Neighbors Link Family Center grounds its programming in the philosophy that parents are a child’s first teacher. We offer evidenced-informed programming in parent education, school readiness, after-school and summer academic support, and healthy family relationships. Neighbors Link is looking for a full-time, creative, compassionate, patient and flexible Parent-Child Program Facilitator that can work closely with children and their parents to provide a stimulating, safe, and developmentally appropriate educational environment where children have the opportunity to develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills. The Parent-Child Program Facilitator will facilitate programming to children from birth to age 5 and their parents with a focus on parenting skills, early childhood development and school readiness. The Parent-Child Program Facilitator will be able to work collaboratively with staff, families, volunteers and partner agencies in our three locations in Mount Kisco, Ossining and Yonkers. This position will report to the Family Center Director. This position requires to be on site in more than one of our locations. Neighbors Link follows all COVID safety guidelines provided by the CDC.

Responsibilities:

  • Reflect the values and philosophy of Neighbors Link by creating a caring and nurturing environment based on mutual respect.
  • Work with children and their parents with a culturally sensitive approach that allows room for creativity and an opportunity to “meet parents where they are.” • Lead, guide, and support staff, interns, and/or volunteers performing related work. • Work in partnership with other Parent-Child Program Facilitators and Parent Education Program Manager to plan, organize and implement developmentally appropriate early childhood education programs for children and their families.
  • Plan innovative ways of keeping children and their families actively engaged.
  • Impart knowledge to children and their parents through fun and play.
  • Collaborate with community partners (i.e. Open Door, Northern Westchester Hospital, The Katonah Museum, among others) to incorporate workshops that supplement or enhance the learning experience for children and their families and mirrors Neighbors Link overall mission of integration and empowerment.
  • Provide activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem solving appropriate to the developmental levels and learning styles of children.
  • Plan and prepare classroom setting; oversee safety and educational programs; supervise children in the classroom; provide a supportive environment in which children can learn and practice appropriate and acceptable individual and group behaviors.
  • Support with data entry of parent-child programming to keep accurate records of attendance and client contact information; refer families to internal programs and community resources, as needed.

Requirements:

  • Fluent English-Spanish bilingual is required, bicultural preferred
  • Undergraduate Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, Child Psychology, Social Work or related field
  • At least two years of experience facilitating similar programs
  • Flexibility to work some weekends and/or evenings
  • Knowledge of early childhood education programs and of child development theory and practice
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Must be able to travel to all of Neighbors Link locations in Mount Kisco, Ossining and Yonkers
  • Ability to evaluate, design, and implement curriculum and/or teaching methodologies
  • Knowledge of applicable safety procedures
  • Ability to provide a supportive, culturally sensitive, and caring environment for children and their families
  • Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops
