Bilingual Paralegal Administrator

Job Summary: We are seeking a full-time Bilingual Paralegal Administrator to provide program support at our new Neighbors Link site in Ossining. The ideal candidate will be interested in learning all aspects of immigration law, immigrant advocacy, and not-for-profit program support. Occasional early morning, evening or weekend hours may be necessary. The Bilingual Paralegal Administrator will report to the Manager of Legal Services.

Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Language Skills

  • Interpret Spanish to English at client meetings
  • Translate Spanish language documents into English
  • Interact with clients in a variety of settings (in person, telephone, Skype, FaceTime)

Administrative Duties

  • Manage office calendar of client appointments, court dates and other events
  • Coordinate volunteer attorney and volunteer interpreter schedules
  • Maintain and purchase office supplies
  • Support the Ossining site manager in administrative and operational functions for site start up.

Paralegal Duties

  • Draft and edit client statements
  • Conduct research in law, policy, human rights and country conditions, with a focus on Central America
  • Complete immigration forms and legal documents
  • Prepare and file legal documents by mail and by hand

Requirements:

  • Fluency in Spanish required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Compelling interest in immigration law
  • Proficiency with MS Office software and familiarity with Google/Outlook Calendar
  • Attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A “can-do” attitude and commitment to the Neighbors Link mission
