Neighbors Link offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for adults, teens, families and groups. Volunteer opportunities may be long-term, short-term or occasional. Both day and evening schedules are available. The first step in your volunteer journey is to fill out our volunteer application. Please click on the link below to fill out a volunteer application and to register for a volunteer orientation. Please note that we will be holding our next orientation on January 9th at 5pm. Summer Links 2017

Dates: June 26– July 28

Location: Mount Kisco Elementary School

Times: 8:45am-12:15pm

Commitment: We are requiring all five weeks OR a two week or three week period. (More consistency amongst our volunteers will benefit the children.)

Volunteer Duties: Volunteers will be working with elementary age children in the classrooms of Mount Kisco Elementary School. You will be assigned to a particular classroom for the entire summer program. In each classroom there will be a Teacher, a Lead Volunteer, two other volunteers, and approximately 15 students.

Attire: You will be required to wear a Neighbors Link Summer Links tshirt every day. We will be giving you one and you will be able to purchase another for $10.00.

TO SIGN UP: If you have volunteered for this program before and are interested again, please email awerner@neighborslink.org to secure a spot for this summer. For new volunteers to this program, we will be conducting interviews in April on Mondays after school from 3-5. Please email me at awerner@neighborslink.org to let me know which date is best for you and I will schedule you into a time slot. Please note that the program fills up with volunteers very quickly. Please contact us soon if you are interested in participating.


Volunteer Opportunities

Language Skills

ESL Tutoring/Tutoring Assistant – tutor students in English as a second language and assist teachers. Teachers are trained Westchester Community College instructors and/or volunteers. Curriculum and training will be provided by staff.
Tuesdays (HS Tutors) and Thursdays (Adult Tutors): 7:00 – 8:30 pm

ESL Conversation Groups – Conduct small group sessions with learners who wish to practice their English conversation skills.

Rosetta Stone Computer ESL – assist learners/clients who are using the Rosetta Stone program on Neighbors Link computers to learn English.

Family Center Programs

Adelante Juntos/Parent-Child Together Classes – volunteers assist the teacher during Neighbors Link parenting and child development classes for young children. You will have the opportunity to interact with young children and support the teacher in guided activities.
Monday 10 – 12:00, Wednesdays 1 – 3:00 and Thursdays 10 – 12:00. Volunteers are asked to arrive thirty minutes before class.

Learning Links -TEENS ONLY – assist teachers at our after-school program in Mt. Kisco Elementary School. Provide academic support and activities for students in grades K – 5.
Monday through Friday: 3:00 – 5:00 pm

Children’s Evening Program – assist staff providing childcare to the children of parents participating in evening education programs.
Monday through Thursday: 7:00 – 9:00 pm

Family Night – Prepare and deliver a buffet meal to an evening workshop for families.
Every other Friday: 6:30 – 9:00 pm

Family Night Childcare – assist teacher and care for children of families participating in an evening workshop.
Friday: 6:30 – 9:00pm


Administrative Support

Librarian – help maintain onsite lending library

Database Assistant – help with data entry

Administrative Volunteer / Intern – provide administrative and telephone support

Special Events – Volunteer for fundraising events, program activities and holiday celebrations.
October – Harvest Food Drive, Family Health Day

Special Projects – conduct drives for winter coats, food and household grocery items to support programs and clients.
