How You Can Help

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AT NEIGHBORS LINK

Neighbors Link offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for adults, teens, families and groups. Volunteer opportunities may be done on an occasional, short-term or long-term basis. Day and evening schedules are available for volunteers.

Our programs include ESL classes, computer training, childcare programs and family workshops. We welcome your involvement and sincerely appreciate your offer to volunteer.

Language Skills

  

ESL Tutoring/Tutoring Assistant – tutor students in English as a second language and assist teachers. Teachers are trained Westchester Community College instructors and/or volunteers. Curriculum and training will be provided by staff.
Mondays and Wednesdays (WCC Instructors): 7:00 - 9:30 pm
Tuesdays (HS Tutors) and Thursdays (Adult Tutors): 7:00 - 8:30 pm
Monday through Friday (WCC Instructors): 9:00am - 12:00pm

ESL Conversation Groups - Conduct small group sessions with learners who wish to practice their English conversation skills.
Tuesdays: 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Wednesdays: 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Rosetta Stone Computer ESL - assist learners/clients who are using the Rosetta Stone program on Neighbors Link computers to learn English.
Mondays and Wednesdays: 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Computer Class – assist volunteer teacher conducting computer classes for adults.
Tuesdays and Thursdays: 7:00 - 8:30 pm


Family/Children's Programs

   

Learning Links – assist teachers at our after-school program in Mt. Kisco Elementary School. Provide homework help and activities for students in grades K – 5.
Monday through Friday: 3:00 - 5:00 pm

Children’s Evening Program - assist staff providing childcare to the children of parents participating in evening education programs.
Monday through Thursday: 7:00 - 9:00 pm

Family Night – Prepare and deliver a buffet meal to an evening workshop for families.
Every other Friday: 6:30 - 9:00 pm

Family Night Childcare – assist teacher and care for children of families participating in an evening workshop.
Friday: 6:30 – 9:00pm


Administrative Support

  

Job Bank / Hiring Site – provide administrative support to Job Bank and Hiring Site Coordinator. Maintain database of clients and jobs assigned.
Timing: 10:00am - 2:00pm

Administrative Volunteer / Intern : provide administrative and telephone support for fundraising, volunteer or program management tasks.
Timing: flexible


Special Events/Projects

  

Special Events – Volunteer for fundraising events, program activities and holiday celebrations.
November - Thanksgiving Dinner for clients
December - Family Health Day
December - Holiday Festival
Spring - Latin Sol Craft Fair

Farmers Market - assist in set up and sales of produce to clients. Communicate nutrition benefits and recipes for using fresh produce.
Thursday: 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm, 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Friday: 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Special Projects – conduct drives for clothing, food and household grocery items to support programs and clients.
